It was in 1873 when my great-grandfather, Mr. Shiv Narayan Mittal, set up his textile trading business in Indrachowk, Kathmandu, Nepal. Back then, King Jung Bahadur Rana has permitted few foreign traders to settle in Kathmandu to promote business and my grandfather was one of them.
My grandfather, Mr. Rameshwarlal Mittal and my father, Mr. Jeevanram Mittal, stepped up to expand the business to other major cities in Nepal under the firm name ‘Rameshwarlal Jeevanram’. When the company registrar was established in Nepal, I designated ‘RJ traders’ as an import-export business. The company traded in fabrics, spices, and building materials.
‘Integrity’ and ‘Excellence’ have always been our core values as we strive to operate our businesses responsibly with an ardent love for our work. Since our culture is deeply embedded in that of Nepal, it is important for us to maintain a good social footprint.
Today, my beloved sons, Gopal Mittal and Kanhaiya Mittal, run multiple businesses in various business sectors of Nepal. I am confident that they will uphold our values and live successful and meaningful careers.
